Reflection of a bubble!

Reflection of a bubble:
Screenshot 2017-05-25 at 12.19.41.pngThe year 8’s attended their 4th assignment of science with Mrs Gawith (our teacher). Our task today was to observe the reflection of bubbles provided with the help of sunlight booming through our window. Here is the procedure of what I have completed….

Materials:
  • A Straw
  • A plastic clear container
  • Detergent, glycerin, water
  • Natural sunlight facing the table or counter top.

Method:
  1. Fill the clear container with the liquid solution and dampen your table, where the sunlight is located.
  2. Plunge the straw into the solution and blow a semi circle bubble onto the table.
  3. Observe carefully as colours will appear reflecting the sunlight, before evaporating.

Easter drawing!

The Liturgy of the Eucharist is part of the Easter vigil in the Catholic religion. During Mass people receive  Jesus' body and blood (the bread and wine) also known as the Eucharist. As the priest provides the bread the response ends with AMEN an utterance of an end of prayer meaning "So be it".

Second day at tech!

Tech:
Making bubbles inside a bubble:

Materials you will need:
  • A straw
  • A plastic dish or container
  • 150mls worth of:
  • Sugar, detergent and water

Instructions:

  1. Pour the sugar, detergent and water into the plastic dish.
  2. Dip the tip of your hand (fingers) into the liquid mixture and spread onto a table.
  3. With the straw, dip inside mixture and blow a semi circle shaped bubble onto the table.
  4. Dip the straw again into the mixture to create another smaller bubble inside the other solution (blow from top of bubble to last from evaporating).

Science at Tech!

It was the first day of tech in Term 2. As we had arrived at Pakuranga Intermediate I was shocked yet excited at the same time that the year 8’s were participating in science.Screenshot 2017-05-04 at 13.42.44.png

I partnered up with Cheska. Launoa and Philomena positioned themselves beside us. Our task today was to measure 100mls of cold water into a  beaker then to add some detergent. We had been given a straw for each pair to blow to formulate bubbles and observe. As I blew with all my strength, the bubbles evaporated amongst the beaker and over flowed almost touching the tip of the table.  Moving onwards after morning break, we received a magnifying glass to discover all the hidden facts behind blowing a bubble. I had leered to my right as Cheska investigated how to place a pencil into the extensive bubble. I was amazed, as I repeated the same process that Cheska had done.  It was an excellent and exciting learning opportunity.

My uninteresting holiday!

It was around about 11am, my eyes were fixed on the blurred transparent windows in the corner of my bedroom. I knew today was going to be the most boring and unexciting day. My parents were working, so I was stuck at home laying my eyes, on anything placed in position of their gaze.

As minutes felt like hours, I was still spiritless to rise from my bed. All of a sudden, I had an idea. Since my parents were busy at work and my grandma would be still enjoying her sleep, I practically had the whole house to myself. “What should I do first?” I thought to myself. The pantry was empty, as well as the fridge I was so sorrowful, I had nothing not even a hidden stash to feed on.

I moved my way into the living room, as the television was gazing at me. I considered my options and decided that “One show wouldn’t hurt me, right!?”. The television travelled to every channel, there was nothing interesting to watch.  Now the netflix button was staring at me, I had no choice but to engage my finger on it. There were thousands, no millions of shows and movies amongst it. I stopped for a moment and observed, a light bulb sparked in my head. “The good dinosaur looks cool” I said excitedly.

Without realising it,  I’d obviously fallen asleep and missed a large portion of the movie. Hours had  past, and I recall the distant echo of what I assume was my own my snoring (obviously, apart from grandma,  I was the only one home). I woke with the shock, and sight of  my mum staring deeply into my eyes. My body went rigid and my heart was beating so hard I initially thought it was going to jump out of my chest!

The look on her face was a clear indication that she was irritated and had realised that I had left the television going for more than two hours. I got a growling, it was harsh, but I knew what I had done was wrong. Grandma was still napping with the fairies, I however was wide awake as I attempted to make myself look busy so as not to catch the eyes of my mother.

Next time I will listen to my own instincts, so that I can avoid  getting  a growling about using too much power.

Growing closer to Jesus!

Today's scripture reading was Sirach 35:1-12
It was about how we do wrong and repent or confess what we have done. About how we sin  and turn our lives around and God will forgive us.
God knows everything, he knows when we do wrong and when we are making the right choices.

WALT: Identify how Christians celebrate Holy week.
  • Holy week is a sacred and solemn week for Christians. Through their liturgical celebration - people walk with Jesus in each of their events that he suffered in his life. These liturgies gather us together, as followers of Christ. We are drawn as - Te Whanau Te Karaiti, into these events (Stations of the Cross).  By being part of activities such as the Station of the Cross we are sharing part of the life and love that Jesus himself gives us at this time.
Holy thursday
  • Jesus and his friends gathered together for what we what we now know as The Last Supper. Jesus gives himself to all those who are gathered at The Last Supper. Jesus give himself to the Eucharist. Jesus reminds them “ Do this in memory of me”. He gives his love (Aroha) in service by the washing of the feet. He tells them “To follow this example of loving service, to serve others in manaakitanga”

Good Friday
  • Jesus gives his life in love on the cross. He give Mary to John as his mother. He forgives all those who has sinned against him for all those sins. He reconciles them with God (To grow and restore faith in the father). He gives the gift of passing through death to life with God.
