My long day at Parakai!

The 20th of April, was the day in the school holidays, that  I finally got to have fun.

I woke up with total excitement that my head nearly blew up.  The reason for this was because my holiday program and I were going to the number one most exciting parakai hot pools. I quickly put my togs on and jumped in the car.

We arrived at my holiday programme which was around Dunkirk Road in Panmure.  I saw my friends and sat with them, as we were waited for the bus to arrive, I saw a friend that used to go to my school, it was Eliza. I was so excited that I wasn't the only one from St. Patrick’s school going on this adventure.

As soon as the bus  stopped, we rushed  and took our seats.I sat with the friends that I knew from my guitar class and then played the game ‘I dare you’. The bus ride was so slow that an hour felt like a whole day. I felt so lucky because I had made new friends who included Angel, Kaden, Lethan and Charnel, they were very friendly and invited me into their group. Meanwhile when all the children were chit chatting the bus stopped, everyone was shouting with rejoiced before  they ran out like a crowd running to a famous celebrity.

The supervisors signed us in and then we had morning tea. The slide was calling my name to ride on it and so my friends and I ran like nobody was watching, but then I accidently slipped while grabbing a mat for the slide. I was so crazy that I didn’t even feel the pain when I fell. We ran up a ramp that lead up to two different slides. There was a green small slide and a blue big long one. I decided to go on the big slide which,I was told was  more slippery and fun. My friends and I bunched up in the slide and boosted off like a rocket, I felt like I was in a roller coaster flying, swishing and going upside down. I swooshed down the slide and sadly for me I was the first one down.
I put my mat away and went to the hot pools with Eliza and another friend Catherine. I first put my foot in the pool and it felt like it was on fire, I screamed quietly and decided to sit and watch.
After I got burnt by the hot pool, all my friends and I decided to play tag out in the outdoor pool and jump some bombs.

We started playing tag and I was in, I counted up to ten and they were all against the wall, I tagged my friend Catherine and the virus went all around the pool (to make sure the virus was Catherine tagging everyone to be in) and the last person who was in was Charnell, she gave up and then we later on, jumped some bombs, some of us went all together in a big line, 3,2,1 we jumped and we all made the biggest splashes in the world. Then we went one by one to flip in the pool,  I went first, I jumped with all my might and hit my butt terribly on the bottom surface “What a jump” I said to myself.

The hand bell rang for lunch time, Kaden and I raced to the table, I had a chicken sandwich for lunch and it was delicious. I also had a fruity drink and I had drank every bit of it. Later on, I was really full as if my stomach had nearly exploded. It was time to play again, but I sat for a little to digest my food. After, my food slowly swished down my stomach, I ran to the hot pool because I felt really cold. I accidently jumped in the hot pool, and surprisingly it wasn’t that hot, it actually felt like a warm blanket that I could sleep in, but unfortunately I couldn’t. After I went to the hot pool once more, all my friends gathered up in the middle of the sliding area, and raced up to the slide. We arrived at the our destination and we hoped in like a bunch of rabbits. We were sliding across and went upside down round and round and then we went swirling around into a big massive pool.

We went several of times on the slide and then Catherine and I went to get changed early before everyone came in to change. I rushed into the shower and washed myself. Luckily, I was done before the other girls came in. I went outside to wait with the others and the bus  arrived like I didn’t even see. We hopped in the bus and played hand games like ‘Slime yuck yuck’, ‘Apple on the stick’, ‘I dare you’ and ‘Kill, date marry’.  After the longest bus ride in my life we arrived at the centre. My cousin was standing at the the door, so I had to walk back with him. We reached back home and to be honest my favourite part of the day was having the best sleep in my life.  “Good night”.

Come out wherever you are, birdies!

My group and I are learning how to: attract birds by using bird feeders, bird baths and honey combs.

This was the result after our inquiry this term where we built our knowledge about helping our garden to become pest free. One of these ideas was to bring birds into the garden to
