WALT: Identify how Christians celebrate Holy week.
  • Holy week is a sacred and solemn week for Christians. Through their liturgical celebration - people walk with Jesus in each of their events that he suffered in his life. These liturgies gather us together, as followers of Christ. We are drawn as - Te Whanau Te Karaiti, into these events (Stations of the Cross).  By being part of activities such as the Station of the Cross we are sharing part of the life and love that Jesus himself gives us at this time.
Holy thursday
  • Jesus and his friends gathered together for what we what we now know as The Last Supper. Jesus gives himself to all those who are gathered at The Last Supper. Jesus give himself to the Eucharist. Jesus reminds them “ Do this in memory of me”. He gives his love (Aroha) in service by the washing of the feet. He tells them “To follow this example of loving service, to serve others in manaakitanga”

Good Friday
  • Jesus gives his life in love on the cross. He give Mary to John as his mother. He forgives all those who has sinned against him for all those sins. He reconciles them with God (To grow and restore faith in the father). He gives the gift of passing through death to life with God.
